Frequently Asked Questions:

Is CrossFit for me?

CrossFit is for everyone - moms, seniors, police, fire fighters, cubical dwellers and yes elite athletes too. We believe in scaling to your needs but pushing you when you need it; fat loss, increased cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, accuracy, agility. We treat the body and person as a whole.

Do I workout on my own or do I have a trainer?

You will have a trainer. At CrossFit each class is led by a trained and certified Coach. Training will be done in groups; that is where the fun, competiveness, and camaraderie come from. A typical class will consist of a warm-up, a skill session, explanation of the WOD (Workout of the Day), examples and instruction of the movements, and the actual workout.

Do I need to be in shape first?

NOPE! We scale every workout to match your current abilities and will increase load as your fitness progresses. We hear this used as an excuse to get out of coming to CrossFit more than anything else. If you can walk and move, you are ready to come to CrossFit.

What does it cost?

We offer an intro special of $90 for the the entire month to see if CrossFit Infenral is right for you. There's no hard sell, there's no "...and now I'll hand you off to Brad in finance.",  no "Quick Credit Card Verification". Show up, try it for a week and see why so many people choose CrossFit as the path to a fitness level they never thought possible. After that, we can talk about signing up, it's completely up to you if you want to keep coming back. (Discounts are available for military, police, fire, and teachers.)

What does WOD mean?

WOD stands for Workout Of the Day. Like the name says each day has its own workout. (It's always changing, no burnout factor here.)

What is the advantage of CrossFit over other programs?

CrossFit works because it treats the body and training as a whole. The workouts are always changing, it's different everyday. We are about training you to run and jump and climb and lift. Looking awesome is just a rad side effect.

Is CrossFit a cardio or a weightlifting program?

Its both and much more! We perform functional movements, giving you a comprehensive full-body workout in under an hour. Classes are instructor-led and peer-driven, providing an excellent mixture of individual coaching and group motivation. Workouts change constantly, ensuring that you always make progress and never get in a rut with your training. We combine elements of boot camp workouts, gymnastics (especially rings and floor work), Olympic weightlifting, rowing, and running. Some workouts are done for time, others for maximum number of reps. The possibilities for fitness are endless. We have a huge number of exercises to choose from, so working out never becomes boring!

How long is the average CrossFit workout?

Sessions are scheduled for 1 hour. This typically will include a warm-up, a skill session, explanation of the workout, examples and instruction of the movements, and the actual workout.

Do I need any special equipment?

Nope. Comfortable clothes, and water are suggested, other than that, just show up with a good attitude, – we’ll provide the rest!

I don’t want to get too bulky – will CrossFit add too much muscle?

Not to worry. Since CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program and not a bodybuilding program, your results will be a leaner,  stronger, faster, more toned version of yourself.
